Taronga Western Plains Zoo’s Tasmanian Devils are into their fourth breeding season since arriving at the Zoo in late 2007.

Taronga Western Plains Zoo welcomed an Eland calf on Tuesday 1 February 2011. The little female is doing very well and has already started to mingle with the older calves from last year’s breeding season.

A special celebration is taking place today for Kufara the Black Rhino which turns one this week! Kufara was born on Thursday 17 February 2010 to first-time mother Bakhita and is the second generation of Black Rhinos to be born at the Zoo.

There is a little romance in the air at Taronga Western Plains Zoo with the arrival of Emiko, a female Oriental Small-clawed Otter which has come from a Zoo in Japan to join Taronga Western Plains Zoo’s male, Harley.

Taronga Western Plains Zoo’s staff are going for a roll on the bowling greens to raise funds for conservation programs for the critically endangered Tenkile or Scott’s Tree Kangaroo.

Keepers at Taronga Western Plains Zoo have been selling Tiger themed calendars across the latter half of 2010 to help raise funds for programs that assist Tigers in the wild.
