A Cunningham’s Skink lives with its large family on rocky outcrops. Each family has its own home in a crevice or tunnel with a nearby ‘toilet’ site. One theory is that this attracts insects which become food for the skinks. Family members recognise one another by smell. They will bite and chase away other skinks. Look for these lizards on sunny rock ledges.
