Veterinary Officer.
Dr Kimberly Vinette Herrin graduated from Colorado State University in 1995 and has since pursued a career in zoo veterinary medicine. Kimberly has been a veterinary officer for Taronga Zoo since 2006.
She came to Taronga Zoo after gaining over eight years of zoo medicine experience as a veterinarian at Gladys Porter Zoo in the South of Texas and Ocean Park aquarium in Hong Kong. She has a strong interest in marine animal medicine and has recently participated as the attending veterinarian on an Antarctic research project assessing elephant seals on Elephant Island.
She is also passionate about rehabilitating sick or injured marine turtles and has participated in several international nesting beach projects. Current research endeavours include satellite tracking juvenile Loggerhead Turtles in the South Pacific.
