How you can help
Zoo-based Conservation

Animal Welfare

We believe that good animal welfare is essential, and will also assist us to achieve our conservation goals.

Australian Breeding Programs

Working in partnerships with other zoos and organisations, Taronga is actively participating in breeding programs for Australian native animals, such as the Brush-Tailed Rock Wallaby of which there are only estimated to be 15-30,000 left in the wild.

Global Breeding Programs

Taronga and Taronga Western Plains Zoos work cooperatively with conservation organisations across the globe to carry out in situ conservation programs.

Ambassador Species

Taronga Zoo houses a few ambassador species, which play a vital role in raising awareness about the plight of their wild counterparts.
