Taronga Zoo's Lion Family
Species:
At Taronga Zoo we have a pride of four lions, Jambo (an 11-year-old male), Kuchani (a 9-year-old female), and their two cubs Johari (a 7-year-old male) and Asali (a 7-year-old female). Kuchani is lighter in colour than her daughter Asali, who is considered the princess of the pride. Jambo (who’s known by most as Bruiser) has a larger, darker mane than his son, Johari, and is the dominant male of the pride. He was hand raised by keepers at Taronga Zoo along with his three sisters who now call Western Plains Zoo their home, and is considered a “big sweetheart”.
