Taronga Western Plains Zoo has recently welcomed three Ring-tailed Lemurs from Rome Zoo in Italy. Over the past month, these remarkable primates have been completing their quarantine, but have now been transported to their newly-built home, a specially-made breeding facility near the African Picnic Ground.
Keepers hope the will be love in the air for the three Ring-tailed Lemurs and one of the Zoo’s current males as they create a breeding program for the species at the Zoo. There is plenty to do before the introductions occur with the new Ring-tailed Lemurs need time to get to know their new home and become familiar with their new keeper before they potentially meet their new love match.
Fingers crossed for the arrival of little Lemurs in the not to distant future!
