This summer, experience Dinosaurs in the Wild with your school! This outdoor-based learning experience will help your class understand the story of the prehistoric Dinosaur extinction. Dotted around the eastern side of the zoo, lurking in gardens, reaching out from wetlands, and popping up in unexpected exhibits, you’ll come face-to-face with full-size, life-like dinosaurs — each bringing a sense of what life in prehistoric times may have been like.
With that in mind, each Dinosaur has been ‘matched’ to a modern animal that shares similar characteristics. For example, the Tyrannosaurus Rex bears similarities with the endangered Tasmanian Devil — a fellow strong-jawed carnivore with a passion for scavenging.
This journey is further enhanced through technology with a new, innovative Dinosaur Augmented Reality application. In a fun and engaging way, the app takes students on a journey around the zoo to ‘collect’ the dinosaurs, which then provides further information around the biology and habitat of the creatures.
To enhance your school excursion, Taronga Zoo has devices that are available through the Education Centre, free of charge. For bookings, contact the Taronga Education Centre via email email@example.com or phone 9978 4552.
