The Zoos’ Aboriginal Education Officers have developed an excellent Aboriginal education program. The program has been created in partnership with local Aboriginal communities and broadly aims to increase knowledge about Aboriginal culture and provide opportunities and support for Aboriginal children.

Walanmarra Program at Taronga Western Plains Zoo

The Walanmarra Program is a joint initiative between Community Services Western Region and Taronga Western Plains Zoo. The Program is targeted at Aboriginal children aged between 8 and 12 years.

Indigenous Scholarship Program

The Taronga Training Institute offers indigenous students the opportunity to benefit from a scholarship and work towards a Certificate II in Animal Studies.
