Schools' Clean up Australia Day - Clean Up for Reptiles

When you Clean Up Australia you are also cleaning up for reptiles.

This videoconference session encourages students who are participating in Schools Clean Up Day. Zoo Educators show live reptiles, who benefit greatly from a clean and healthy environment.

Watch video footage from the Vet nursing staff from Taronga Wildlife Hospital and see first hand, how animals such as marine turtles are suffering the effects of plastic pollution.

Live reptiles including snakes, turtles and lizards will be shown as students learn about reptile characteristics, their predators and prey, special features for survival, and role in maintaining biodiversity.  Students will also have a chance to discuss the role humans play in protecting reptiles and learn how to create essential reptile habitat.

Video conference themes:

  • The amazing diversity and biology of reptiles in Australia and other countries
  • Investigating the importance of keeping reptile habitat pollution free
  • How to create essential reptile habitat
