Learn from the best and go behind-the-scenes to meet some of Taronga’s favourite characters. Get a personal look at what it takes to care for some of the smartest animals in the world like Gorillas, Orang-utans and Chimpanzees.
This course is held over three sessions and an accredited assessment pathway is offered during this course if desired. Successful completion will lead to a Statement of Attainment in ACMSPE310A Provide basic care of mammals.
This unit of competency covers the process of identifying mammals and their behavioural and physical needs, providing daily care requirements, assisting with behavioural and basic preventative health measures.

Taronga Zoo, Bradleys Head Road, Mosman.
Minimum age requirement for this course is 16 years of age.
To be eligible for the issue of a Statement of Attainment for the unit ACMSPE310A Provide basic care of mammals you must provide proof of Australian citizenship or permanent residency and successfully complete all assessments associated with this course. Please note: If you are not an Australian citizen or permanent resident you are welcome to participate in the course but we are not able to issue you with a statement of attainment for the completion of the course at this time. Note about assessments: Some of the assessments associated with this course will be completed while the student is attending the course, others will require work in your own time and need to be submitted after the course has finished.
Dates and times for 2015*
The course runs over 3 sessions. The two weekday sessions run from 4pm to 8pm and the weekend session is from 9am - 5pm. You need to attend all 3 sessions to complete the course.
