We all agree that Science and Sustainability is important for our students but how do we integrate it into our learning programs? Taronga Zoo Education Advisors can show you!

Join our accredited, 1.5 day curriculum writing workshop and design your own integrated unit of work – that makes a difference!

You will be given your own Project In-situ Toolkit and your very own Zoo Education mentor to help you design your very own ‘Project In-situ as a best practice, integrated unit of work.

This community conservation and education model follows these simple steps:

  • Students are introduced to the plight of a locally threatened species.

  • They meet recovery experts such as Scientists, Conservationists, Rangers Zoo experts and volunteer agencies to discover how they are assisting in the species recovery.

  • Students then join the ‘recovery team’ and take on the charge to increase awareness and drive behaviour change, persuading their local community to take action to help protect their animal in need.

Taronga’s award winning Project In-situ model is considered best practice in Sustainability Education, Project Based Learning and Quality Teaching. The learning appeal for students is extremely high given the contextual, student centred and authentic nature of the project.
