Dubbo's city brand 'time to smile' identifies with the plight of the rhino, and the knowledge that it is 'time to act' to save these beautiful animals.
Lara Johnson, aged 19, is an aspiring zookeeper and artist. After completing her education at Newtown High School of the Performing Arts, majoring in visual arts and dance, Lara studied Certificate II in Animal Studies and Certificate III in Captive Animals with Taronga Training Institute. This enabled her to gain jobs within Taronga Conservation Society as a Guest Services Officer and a Discovery Host, connecting with her passion for animals and conservation. Johnson has also been a dedicated volunteer with Taronga since 2009. Lara is a self-taught artist, focusing on fine art. Working predominately with acrylics, Johnson takes inspiration from nature and wildlife, hoping that she can connect with viewers to build an appreciation and respect for the world around us.
