We would like to welcome two new additions to Backyard to Bush!
Birubi practicing his wrestling skills
Birubi is one of Taronga’s young male Red Kangaroos – and he’s growing up fast!
Our resident red-bellied black snake, Beyonce, has temporarily moved from Backyard to Bush to Taronga’s reptile area for breeding.
Look who is growing up fast! Our youngest goat, Frankie is now seven months old.
We’ve been breeding a number of baby Spiny Leaf Insects at Backyard to Bush. Interestingly, these little creatures are not classified as true leaf insects; they are a species of stick insect, otherwise known as phasmids.
It’s just over two years since Taronga became home to 10 wild caught quokkas from Rottnest Island, West Australia, and they’ve certainly settled in producing five tiny joeys!
Miniature piglets at Backyard to Bush’s farmyard are keeping their little trotters warm. The eight tiny piglets were born almost two weeks ago and are staying dry in their parents’ straw-filled shelter.
There has been a recent spate of births at Backyard to Bush keeping everyone very busy.
Springtime at Backyard to Bush has arrived along with bouncing baby animals, from tiny fluffy chicks to cute goat kids.
