Over the past three months Taronga Western Plains Zoo has welcomed a baby boom in the Eland and Barbary Sheep herds!

There have been 11 Eland calves and six Barbary Sheep lambs born now across the spring months. The most recent new addition was an Eland calf born on 23 November.

The young calves and lambs are all doing well and can often be spotted together on exhibit. They have just started to interact with each other and keepers often see the Eland calves sparing or lambs jumping from rock to rock on their exhibit.

Whilst they are still sucking from their mothers they will start to nibble on grass and hay in the coming months.
