Jarrah the Joey jumps for joy!

Can you guess what kind of animal Jarrah is?

Kristal is a Zoo Keeper at the Backyard to Bush section in the Zoo. She has been very lucky and been looking after Jarrah ever since his mum decided that it was time for him to leave the pouch. Jarrah though was still too young to look after himself, so she stepped in to look after the youngster like his real mum would have.

Jarrah is a Quokka joey! Quokka’s are the smallest animals in the kangaroo family, and they even jump around like kangaroos! An adult Quokka will only grow to be about 30cm tall, and weigh about 1.5 kilos. Jarrah is growing up fast and Kristal says he’s jumping around everywhere and meeting lots of people. He looks pretty happy to me!
