Claire has been working with animals for over ten years. Originally completing a degree in California, she went on to work at zoos in both Scotland and Canada before arriving on our shores to work at Taronga Zoo three years ago.
Although Claire has worked with a vast variety of animals from Baboons to Hornbills, she says the highlight of her career has been working here at Taronga at the free flight bird show. She especially enjoys working with birds of prey such as falcons and eagles because of their incredible speed, manoeuvrability and unique features that differ from species to species.
“I love training animals. The experience is both challenging and very rewarding, each day is different. It makes my day when someone comes down from the crowd after a show and says ‘wow those birds are amazing!’, being able to share these magnificent birds with others is inspiring.”
