All the elephants were dust bathing around the big dirt mound in the top paddock after their baths this morning. The boys were playing and having fun when the new calf decided to join in too.
Our new calf readily walked onto the scales this morning and she is still her birth weight of 120kg.
The female calf spent more time in the paddock with the rest of the herd today. The other calves, Luk Chai and Pathi Harn, seem to be more interested with her and Luk chai was seen looping his trunk around hers.
The calf is doing well. She is starting to move about more readily and is starting to spend a bit more time with her aunties.
Today the new calf was integrated into the whole herd. Tang Mo, Thong Dee and Luk Chai all greeted her with enthusiasm and touched her with their trunks.
Today the new calf and mum Pak Boon spent a lot of the day in the lower paddock of The Rainforest Trail with Porntip and Pathi Harn.
Pak Boon and her calf are spending time together in the barn today, getting comfortable with each other.
