Matthew Fuller has resigned from the position of Director after more than 12 years of service to Taronga Western Plains Zoo. He has spent more than nine years in his most recent appointment, and nearly three years in the same role between 2002 and 2004.

As the Zoo’s Director, Mr Fuller has overseen the delivery of a very successful business plan for the Zoo, and has been part of many wonderful team milestones and results that he is very proud of, including:

Successful Rhino breeding programs, which include all three species of Rhino;

Ongoing contribution to native conservation initiatives including the Tasmanian Devil, and the Great Barrier Reef through the frozen zoo;

Securing the current $50 million Centenary Plan, co-funded by the NSW Government;

Development of Wild Asian Wetlands, the Savannah Visitor Plaza and front entry precinct, and the Zoo’s award winning accommodation experiences;

Gold status within the NSW Sustainability Advantage Program;

Numerous awards including winning three national awards in the last four years, including Australian Tourism Awards for Unique Accommodation.

Mr Fuller was also present for the Zoo’s 25th and 40th birthday celebrations in 2002 and 2017. He has been a valuable asset to the Zoo and a passionate advocate for the organisation, Dubbo and for investment in regional NSW.

Following 14 July, Mr Fuller will move into his new position with Roads and Maritime Services NSW. The Zoo is in the final stages of recruiting an interim Director, while a more extensive search is undertaken to fulfil the position long-term.

The team at Taronga Western Plains Zoo wishes Matt all the best for the future.
