Ausgrid launches state of the art technology

Last year Ausgrid Zoo Month was celebrated throughout the September school holidays and weekends in October. The focus of the event was on energy efficiency, demonstrating how even the simplest energy saving actions can have a positive impact on our environment.

The main attraction during Ausgrid Zoo Month was the state-of-the-art augmented reality display set up at Taronga’s Great Southern Oceans exhibit. Visitors were able to interact with a digital version of Nala, Taronga’s Australian Sea-lion and Ausgrid’s Energy Efficiency Ambassador Amy, to explore the different ways to be more energy efficient around the home.

Amy, Ausgrid’s energy efficiency ambassador, played a key role in Zoo Month last year. A special edition of “The Day Amy Helped Save the Marine Animals”, an educational book for children was launched for visitors to enjoy . The book explores the simple ways Amy works to save energy around her home to help reduce her family’s contribution to the impacts of climate change. You can check out the e-book version right here!

Ausgrid is proud to announce that their Zoo Month Augmented Reality activity has received two nominations at the Australian Interactive Media Industry Association Awards for Best Children’s & Best Learning categories. The Awards ceremony will take place on 16th March.

Ausgrid is a proud sponsor of Taronga’s Great Southern Oceans, home to the zoo’s marine life and the famous Ausgrid Seal Show.

With more than 2,000 visitors each day, the Seal Theatre is one of the major attractions at Taronga Zoo. Daily seal shows are not only entertaining but allow the keepers to share information about marine life.
