Whether you bring your own, or take advantage of our food outlets, Taronga Western Plains Zoo offers a dining experience to suit everyone.

Savannah Visitor Plaza

The Savannah Visitor Plaza is part of the free access areaat Taronga Western Plains Zoo which allows visitors to enjoy a coffee, refreshments or a meal at the café before entering the Zoo.  The Savannah Visitor Plaza is the perfect place to plan your day at the Zoo whilst watching the Spider Monkeys and Lemurs frolic on the islands of the Savannah Lake.  The Savannah Visitor Plaza features the information desk, Zoo Shop, Bakhita’s Café and Bakhita’s to go.  All services are streamlined in this area so that you can book an encounter, grab a bite to eat or a coffee as well as a souvenir before or after you see the Zoo.

Bakhita’s Café

Located in the Savannah Visitor Plaza, overlooking the beautiful Savannah Lake, Bakhita’s Café offers modern Australian cuisine for breakfast and lunch. Bakhita’s Café also serves a selection of beverages including soft drinks, wines, beer and coffee to compliment each meal.  It is a great place to meet with friends for a coffee or lunch, a business meeting or to break up your visit to the Zoo by stopping in before heading around the circuit again. High Tea at the Zoo

Enjoy a traditional High Tea in the unique and picturesque setting of Taronga Western Plains Zoo. Overlooking the beautiful Savannah Lake you will sample a range of delectable delights whilst sipping on tea and wine.

Bakhita’s to go

If you’re after a something quick before heading off into the Zoo then stop in at Bakhita’s to go. Bakhita’s to go has a wide variety of refreshments available including hot and cold food including burgers, sandwiches, wraps, pies and sausage rolls and a variety of hot and cold beverages.  Perfect for a snack on the go or to enjoy on the terrace overlooking the Savannah Lake.

Picnic Spots

For those visitors wishing to bring their own food, the Zoo has a number of free picnic and barbecue areas are dotted along the circuit, inlcuding the African and European picnic grounds as well as one in the free access area near the Safari Park children's playground.
