Taronga Western Plains Zoo in Dubbo has welcomed four Asian Elephants from sister zoo, Taronga, in Sydney.
Recently keepers at Taronga Western Plains Zoo welcomed Tambo, a one year old male Bongo, to Dubbo from Taronga Zoo, Sydney. Tambo has come to Dubbo to join resident Bongo bachelor Kulungu, who is four years old, and has been at the Zoo since 2011.
Keepers are seeing a changing of the guard within the Meerkat group at Taronga Western Plains Zoo, as the 11 year old dominant female Umi starts to show her age.
Taronga Western Plains Zoo has won a Silver Award for Best Attraction and Bronze Award for Unique Accommodation at the Australian Tourism Awards gala ceremony held in Adelaide on Friday 10 April 2015.

Taronga employs a variety of scientists including zoologist, veterinarians, pathologists and reproductive biologists to undertake research both in-situ and ex-situ. Celebrate Conservation Science at Taronga Western Plains Zoo this year, with a focus on this year’s theme Light and Waves.
