Five for the Wild – Zoofari 2012 was a fun-filled evening and most importantly, a great success. With the help of our wonderful guests that night, we raised a total of $369,520 through ticket sales, auctions, the lucky key, raffles and pledges.
This year’s guests had the opportunity to hear first-hand from the keepers who care for them about the five animal species under threat fin the wild Taronga Western Plains Zoo Senior Veterinarian Dr Benn Bryant and Precinct Manager Australian Fauna Rodd Stapley.
There was a spectacular auction by the fabulous Justin Miller followed by the amazing Marcia Hines performing some of her greatest hits.
Zoofari’s auction prizes included a spectacular Burcheron Owl pendant, a swim with the seals, Masterchef winners Andy and Ben come to your home to cook a wonderful dinner for you and your friends along with waiters provided by Stedmans. There was also a cricket clinic with rising young sportsman Dave Warner.
Funds raised on the night will be directed towards breeding and conservation projects Taronga is supporting to assist the five critically important species’ continued survival in their natural habitats. These are the Cassowary, Platypus, Sumatran Tiger, Asian Elephant and African Wild Dog
We hope guests now have a greater understanding of Taronga’s breeding, conservation and research work and the very real contribution it makes to the global understanding and protection of our natural world.
We could not have achieved this wonderful result without the support our wonderful donors, corporate partners, loyal Zoo supporters and our fabulous Zoofari Event Committee and for this we say thank you.
