Also known as the Five-striped Palm-squirrel, the Northern Palm Squirrel can be found living around houses and gardens. It shows little fear of people. Palm-squirrels forage together in the trees for buds, seeds and insects. Their front teeth grow throughout their lives but are kept short and sharp through constant gnawing of hard seeds. Between one and five young are born up to twice a year in a nest built in a tree or the roof of a building.
