Rufous Owls are great hunters; they have excellent hearing and large eyes to help them see in half the light a human need. They are solitary owls that communicate through a slow double ‘woo-hoo’. Skilled and powerful, they prey on marsupials, rodents, bats, birds and large insects.
Like many animals they are threatened by land clearance and fragmentation of habitat.
