What Taronga stands for

For the Wild’ brings to life our vision of securing a shared future for wildlife and people, encapsulating everything that we do.

In the lead-up to Taronga launching For the Wild on 1st July, 2013, Taronga collect the animal prints as a sign of support for humans and wildlife sharing this planet.

Taronga's staff put toghter this video of what Taronga stands for below. Download a copy of Taronga's mantra here.

Gary Miller, our Asian Elephant Manager, tells us about how the Zoo's breeding program for the species is one of the ways Taronga Conservation Society Australia is For The Wild. Watch the video below to see him collecting the footprints of our elephant herd.

Pledges For the Wild

To launch "For the Wild", Taronga collected the paw prints of the animals in our care as a show of support For The Wild. Everyone from celebrities to our own keepers and visitors showed their support too.

Taronga is committed to being For the Wild

We are committed to creating a shared future for wildlife and people. Through our efforts we protect endangered species, increase understanding of wildlife and inspire community action. Our commitment to conservation extends beyond our Zoo boundaries and Australia, reaching continents around the globe.
