On Tuesday the 16th April the Y@TZ [Youth at the Zoo] came down with Rod and Kerry and other zoo keepers from the Taronga zoo to release some Zoo bred Regent Honeyeaters into the local forest.

The 5/6‘s went on a scavenger hunt in Mt Pilot National Park looking for different objects we collected throughout the bush behind the school. We found lots of different pieces of rubbish that didn’t belong in the forest. After the bushwalk we had a sausage sizzle for lunch. Alaina said “I really enjoyed collecting things with my group”.  We collected natural pieces from around the school to create an art piece. “I really enjoyed doing environmental art with Liz one of the Y@TZ” said Jezebel. “Some of the art pieces were incredible” said Preston.

We planted seeds for our vegetable garden.  At the end of the day we said goodbye to the Y@TZ and they headed back to their campsite.
