Hi there!

Thank you for your interest in the Taronga Boral Youth at the Zoo program for teenagers, aged 13-19 years.

LATEST NEWS - The Boral YATZ Acheiver Award 2017

We are proud to announce this years winner is ...

Sascha Solomon!!!!
Sascha has been a YATZ member since 2012 and in that time has made a notable impression on many of the staff she has worked with at Taronga. She has logged over 700 service hours and is evidently passionate about Taronga.
Sascha has been regarded by many staff as dedicated and a pleasure to work with. Her knowledge of programs like Roar and Snore and Guest Experience Operations has meant Taronga staff seek out her assistance and give her high praise after a shift, some stating she acts as staff are expected to and that she is indistinguishable from staff. Sascha is a keen and energetic Leader in YATZ and was involved in many of the key Centenary events last year, including the parade in which she and other leaders led the way for other staff, volunteers and stakeholders during the Centenary Parade For The Wild from the city streets and Opera House steps. She recently attended the Regent Honeyeater release camp and assisted Bird Keepers prepare the release site, all the while supporting other YATZ on the camp and leading for the wild and making sure the Regent Honeyeater story is told – as you will see later this evening.
Sascha has time and again demonstrated all the traits a BORAL YATZ should aim to have – she is hard working, committed, sociable and passionate. Rarely is anything is too complex and she will happily try something out of her comfort zone. Her passion and dedication to Taronga, wildlife and its protection is clear in the way she carries herself, acts with dignity and respect and impresses everyone she meets. She is beyond doubt becoming a global citizen and we at Taronga and Boral are proud to have her in our Zoo family. Her participation with the Taronga team, YATZ and conservation is the reason she is being awarded with this year’s ever Boral Achiever Award. Congratulations Sascha!
