Health and Wellbeing Volunteer

Would you like to help out with supporting the ongoing Health & Wellbeing of Taronga employees and volunteers?

The Taronga WHS team provide health & wellbeing and injury management support to employees across both the Taronga and Western Plains zoo sites. This can include promoting general health and wellbeing information and awareness, as well as coordinating events such as RUOK Day and arranging training in workplace mental health. This is a varied role supporting the Health & Wellbeing Coordinator to make a real impact on the wellbeing of Taronga's people. 

Purpose

The Health & Wellbeing Volunteer will work closely with the Health & Wellbeing Coordinator to provide assistance with maintaining records; organising Health & Wellbeing initiatives; researching and collating information on various health and wellbeing initiatives. The majority of the work involved in the role will be desk based in the WHS section with some opportunity to work in grounds on specific tasks. 

Position details

  • This role is available Mondays, Tuesdays or Thursdays only (shift times flexible)
  • This position is required to work 1-2 days per week
  • This position requires a minimum commitment of 12 months
  • All Taronga Volunteers are required to supply a current Working with Children Check and complete eLearning modules and induction

Please note: This role will have no direct animal contact.

  • To be successful in this role we are looking for:
  • Current or previous background in nursing or any health related discipline is desirable
  • General knowledge of health & wellbeing or injury management 
  • Attention to detail and maintaining accuracy and motivation with repetitive tasks
  • Good record keeping skills
  • Good communication skills – both written and verbal
