Guest Experience Volunteers work throughout the Zoo providing information and interpretation about the Zoo and its animals to visitors.

Working in the Information Centre advising visitors and handing out maps; participating in interpretation activities; spot guiding (providing information and navigation to visitors on the grounds); helping out at special events; conducting visitor surveys; and assisting with crowd control.
Guest Experience Guide (must already be a Guest Experience Volunteer)
These volunteers are trained to additionally provide guided tours, especially of our Australian animal, primate & Big Cat sections as well as assisting with VIP tours.
Is this right for me?
You need to enjoy working with people, be prepared to be part of a team, have a keen interest in animals and a willingness to learn. A decent level of fitness is required as you will be walking around the grounds on a regular basis. This volunteer role will have no direct animal contact.
Minimum commitment:12 months, once per fortnight (negotiable).
Financial contribution: $25 joining fee plus Zoo Friends membership. This feel will help cover the costs of training and uniform.
NB: Volunteer positions are not guaranteed, if you are not currently a Zoo Friends member you will not be required to join until after you have sucessfully gained a position.
All Guest Experience volunteers are required to complete a one day induction and a seven day orientation training course, covering customer service, basic animal knowledge and Taronga's programs
