Penguin Blogs – Dee Why Public School Habitat Day

On Monday 23rd of May, Yrs 5 & 6 went to Manly for Habitat Day for Project Penguin. When we arrived we went to Collins Flat Beach and did a beach map, a survey of the beach and bush regeneration. After that we had recess and lunch at Little Manly. We went to Manly Wharf to listen to the staff from the Manly Environment Centre, Judy, and the Manly Penguin Warden, Sue, to talk about the threats to the Little Penguins and their critical habitat area. After we had listened to them we went back to school.

What an excellent day!

On Monday 23rd May the Yrs 5/6 went to Manly for habitat day for Project Penguin. When we arrived at Little Manly we walked down to Collins Flat Beach and did some activities. Then we had morning tea and lunch at little Manly. We went to the Manly Wharf and we heard from a Manly Penguin Warden called Sue and the Manly Environment Centre staff member called Judy, who talked about the Little Penguins that live in the Manly Wharf and other areas around the Manly beach; and also what types of animals that damage and hurt the little penguins.

What great fun!
