The first of the spring babies has arrived at Taronga Western Plains Zoo and it’s covered in stripes!  Early this month, in the early hours of the morning, first-time mother Kijani gave birth to a healthy male Zebra foal now named Tambo.

Tambo is all legs at the moment but will start to fill out over the next few months.  He and his mother are doing very well.

Kijani has settled into her new role of motherhood and is showing all the right behaviours while Tambo is taking everything in his stride and already drawing a crowd of adoring onlookers out on exhibit.

Tambo is the first of many babies we’re expecting this Spring.
