Renae has been working as a keeper for 11 years, the last four years as the Unit Supervisor of Ungulates.

In her role, Renae looks after hoofed mammals including Giraffe, Zebra, Bongo, Tapir and Hippopotamus. During her career at Taronga Zoo, she has also worked with Primates, Carnivores and Australian Mammals, as well as a short six-month contract in the Veterinary and Quarantine Centre.

Renae considers her job a privilege. “Being able to work so closely with some of the world’s most amazing animals everyday is an absolute privilege, and it is what I love most about my job.”
