We are making magnets and two folding posters. Our group helped each other by organising and cooperating. We had two people on each project. Our mentor helped us by cutting, painting and helping us plan. We are hoping the community will learn not to litter and put their dogs on leashes.
A couple of months have passed and Kibali and Kimya are settling in well. There has been some highs and lows with the two young gorillas getting to know each other with their paths not always being smooth.
As part of a 10 year Centenary Master Plan upgrade, Taronga has submitted plans to build an Australian Habitat Exhibit (phase 1) which includes an overnight conservation experience called the Taronga Wildlife Retreat.
Taronga Zoo’s young male elephant, Luk Chai, 5, had some dental work on his tusks today. Taronga’s Senior Veterinarian, Dr Larry Vogelnest, said some elephants including Luk Chai, have brittle tusks that are prone to cracking and infection.
