Brad McKenzie has worked as a keeper and animal trainer at Taronga Zoo for the past five years. Previous to this he spent 10 years working in Queensland predominantly with Marine Mammals but also with fish, reptiles and amphibians.
Guest Experience Volunteers work throughout the Zoo providing information and interpretation about the Zoo and its animals to visitors.
Guest Experience is suitable for those who like working with the public.
Volunteer Keepers and Food Prep Volunteers assist the keepers with general keeping duties including cleaning exhibits and food preparation.
Life Sciences is suitable for people prepared for hard work, early hours, all weather and manual tasks.
Applications will open in February 2017.
Animal enrichment, animal watch and water testing volunteers are involved in the creation of enrichment devices for our animals; monitoring Zoo animal behaviour; and scientific research such as water testing.
Animal watch, enrichment and water testing is suitable for those who prefer less face-to-face interaction with the public.
