This program investigates the impact of being physically close to and interacting with animals on zoo visitors as well as the animals involved. In the current study behavioural data will be collected and faecal samples retrieved from Koalas managed in different situations within Taronga to examine: i) the effect of environmental variables, such as housing, husbandry and interactive educational experiences, ii) the effect of environmental variables on the concentration of faecal glucocorticoid metabolites (FGC) and iii) the relationship between behaviour and FGC.
