Background

Taronga’s Native Fauna keepers and Macquarie University are studying the characteristics of zoo-bred and wild Regent Honeyeaters and investigating the potential of these birds to learn and mimic calls at various stages of life. We are also interested in whether the calls need to be accompanied by a biological reinforcement or if calls alone are sufficient for learning and mimicking.
