While you’re at the Zoo, take a stroll on Taronga’s new scenic boardwalk between the African Safari and Big Cats Trail.

On Tahr mountain
The new circulation link takes visitors on a meandering walk through the treetops with spectacular harbour views from the African Safari past the Himalayan Tahrs perched on their rocky exhibit down to the Snow Leopard Mountain (map reference 16K).

Also along the boardwalk is a new lookout overlooking  the rocky, African themed Barbary Sheep exhibit and the restored Heritage Pavilion, which is just across from the Barbary Sheep. This lovely, shaded rest point is a great spot to admire the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera House viewsacross the harbour.

For the first time you’ll also be able to gaze directly on to the Himalayan Tahrs’ historical mountain, as these agile mountain goats peek from their rocky caverns and witness at close-hand their nimble jumps from rocky ledge to ledge.

This new, gently sloping boardwalk is a magnificent way to experience Taronga’s wildlife with a fabulous harbour backdrop and an easy gradient for families with prams and less mobile visitors walking between Taronga Boulevard and the African Safari.
