Rhino Sculpture Name:
Maliyaa (means friend in Gamilaroi)
We investigated the flags of Africa and saw that the main colours of the flags were red, green and yellow. So they became background colours. We then wanted to show a part of Coonamble, so we worked with our Aboriginal Education Officer, Willy Ferguson, to use Aboriginal designs to reflect our community. Finally we discussed the conservation of rhinos and decided a message of “Horns Belong on Rhinos” would help people understand the threat to rhinos.
