NAIDOC at Taronga Western Plains Zoo

NAIDOC Week is held each year to celebrate the achievements, history and culture of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This year, we would like you to bring your students to Taronga Western Plains Zoo to celebrate this national event. Workshop details will be available closer to the date, but have previously included Aboriginal dance, art, dreamtime stories, bush tucker and animal encounters at the Education Centre

Taronga Western Plains Zoo is thrilled to announce the arrival of a male Black Rhino calf, born in the very early hours of Monday 20 April.
Taronga Western Plains Zoo in Dubbo has welcomed four Asian Elephants from sister zoo, Taronga, in Sydney.
Recently keepers at Taronga Western Plains Zoo welcomed Tambo, a one year old male Bongo, to Dubbo from Taronga Zoo, Sydney. Tambo has come to Dubbo to join resident Bongo bachelor Kulungu, who is four years old, and has been at the Zoo since 2011.
Keepers are seeing a changing of the guard within the Meerkat group at Taronga Western Plains Zoo, as the 11 year old dominant female Umi starts to show her age.
