The world’s favourite furry, blue, googly-eyed monster will trade his apartment on Sesame Street for Taronga Zoo on Monday, when he visits for a free meet and greet with families.

The Cookie Monster will learn about Australian wildlife, such as Koalas, Kangaroos and Quokkas, before joining visitors for photos in the Zoo’s main entrance plaza at 12.30pm.

“Oh, me so excited to be visiting Taronga Zoo in Sydney,” said the Cookie Monster. “Me hear that a kangaroo can hop up to 9 meters in one hop! That pretty fast, but me think me would go that fast in search of a chocolate chippie cookie… See you in Sydney at the Zoo!”

The Cookie Monster is heading to Sydney as part of the launch of Sesame Street’s Season 46 celebrations.

The new season sees Cookie Monster move into a new apartment on Sesame Street, learn lessons of self control (important when it comes to cookies), and features celebrities like Gwen Stefani and Pharrell.
