Taronga Zoo Sydney and Taronga Western Plains Zoo Dubbo are delighted to re-open to the public after being temporarily closed in line with New South Wales Health Orders.
In line with NSW Health advice, the Zoos will be open to guests aged 16 years and over who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, and all young people aged under 16.
If you have been asked to self-isolate, please do not visit either of Taronga’s Zoos.
If you have cold or flu symptoms, we ask that you please stay home and do not visit either of Taronga's two Zoos. Pre-booked tickets can be changed to an alternate date at no charge. This advice also applies to staff, students and volunteers.
The health and safety of Zoo guests, staff, animals and of course the broader community remains Taronga’s top priority and preparations are underway to ensure the Zoo is ready to reopen safely. Our sites are proudly COVID-safe and will comply with all NSW Government Health orders.
Vaccinated guests: Taronga Zoo Sydney and Taronga Western Plains Zoo Dubbo are open to guests aged 16 years and over who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or have medical exemption documentation (the NSW Government COVID-19 Vaccine Medical Contraindication), and all young people aged under 16.
Proof of vaccination: COVID-19 digital certificates are available for guests who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, via the Express Plus Medicare mobile app or your Medicare online account through myGov. You can add your COVID-19 digital certificate to your smartphone Apple Wallet or Google Pay. Vaccinations will also be integrated into the Service NSW app in the coming weeks. Mask-wearing: Masks are required to be worn in all indoors locations including at cafes, indoor exhibits and viewing shelters. Guests are required to carry a mask at all times whilst in the Zoo.
Pre-booked visits: All guests, including Zoo Friends and complimentary ticket holders, will be required to pre-purchase tickets online for a specific date.
Service NSW check-in: All guests will be required to check in using the Service NSW app and show proof of their vaccinations or a medical exemption upon arrival.
Social distancing: Staff and guests (unless from the same household) are required to maintain 1.5m physical distancing at all times where possible.
Bring your essentials upon arrival:
- Your pre-purchased e-ticket (or registration confirmation for Zoo Friends)
- Your proof of vaccination
- Personal hygiene kit (including sanitiser)
- Contactless payment method
- Water bottle
Guests are not permitted to visit Taronga’s Zoos in Sydney and Dubbo or stay overnight if it contravenes state or federal travel restrictions, border closures and public health orders relating to COVID-19. If you have been asked to self-isolate, please do not enter Taronga Zoo Sydney or Taronga Western Plains Zoo Dubbo. If you have cold or flu symptoms, we ask that you also please stay home and do not visit.

A Taronga Zoo gift voucher is the perfect gift for your family, friends, colleagues or employees. Vouchers are for general admission to Taronga Zoo Sydney on any day of the year and are valid for three years from date of purchase.
