The Waterhole coming soon
The Waterhole precinct is set to open just in time for the Easter school holidays.
Check out the new open style café where you can enjoy a meal whilst watching the Meerkats forage as well as overlooking herd species such as Zebra, Camels and Blackbuck and kids can have fun with an African waterhole theme featuring hippo and elephant sculptures and an array of automated jets.
Make your visit to the Zoo special with a wild experience where you can feed a giraffe, meet a Meerkat or go into the Lions exhibit on tour! These are all wild experiences will leave you with memories for a lifetime.
The best way to explore the Zoo’s 5.5km circuit is by bike or electric cart! Bike and electric carts can be hired from the Zoo’s hire centre or you can bring your own bike. Visitors can also drive their own car or walk.
Learn from our Keepers
Plan your day around our 10 Keeper Talks throughout the day, all included free with your Zoo entry. They are a great opportunity to learn more about the animals from the Zoo Keepers and see the animals at feeding time!
Stay the night
For the ultimate wild experience, stay overnight at Taronga Western Plains Zoo! Sleep under the stars at Billabong Camp, stay in the self-contained Savannah Cabins or enjoy our luxurious African-style Zoofari Lodge.
Coming soon! Birthday party packages will be available for children aged 3 – 13 years and include a designated party area in the children’s playground, as well as party food and drinks provided by Bakhita’s Cafe.
Let the kids run wild in the Safari Park playground on the swings and always popular flying fox, whilst our team takes care of the catering. All you need to do is bring the birthday cake!
See our baby animals
Baby animals are a highlight of a Zoo visit! Be sure to see Kanlaya the Asian Elephant calf along with our six Cheetah cubs! Both new arrivals were born in the middle of 2018 and have been growing and developing well.
Get up close to our Lion Pride
There is so much to experience at the Lion Pride Lands precinct from seeing the pride on exhibit, to meeting the goats in the replica African village or venture into the exhibit on the Pride Lands Patrol tour. Kids can climb to the top of the lookout or pretend to be a lioness in the play area.
Zoo Adventures Lil Keeperz holiday program
Young adventurers will be taken on a journey through the Zoo to learn about animals, meet the people that take care of them and take part in engaging experiences.
Zoo Adventures takes place on select days during school holidays.
