Taronga's Education programs are discovery with a difference! We offer schools and teachers fun and interactive learning opportunities that enable students of all ages to:
- Engage with wildlife
- Develop a deeper knowledge of conservation and the natural world
- Become a wildlife ambassador
Conducted by qualified educators, our unique, hands-on workshops are curriculum-based and can be tailored to meet the needs of your students. They are included in the cost of admission and ensure you students get the most out of their visit to Taronga Zoo or Taronga Western Plains Zoo.

Taronga Zoo is open every day of the year from 9:30am to 4:30pm via the Top Main Entrance.
The lower Zoo Entrance opens at 11:00am. The Sky Safari Cable Car opens at 9:30am and closes at 4:30pm, please keep this in mind if arriving via ferry. If you are travelling by Ferry and have not included Sky Safari in your booking you will need to catch one of the public buses to the top Zoo entrance. This may incur an additional cost. For more information on STA buses and costs, please phone the transport info line on 131 500.
Costs and Bookings
All school excursions must be pre-booked.
- One supervising adult per five students for Year 2 and below.
- One supervising adult per 10 students for Year 3 and above.
Note: Use of the Sky Safari requires one supervising adult per five students.
Risk Assessment Form for Teachers
The Risk Assessment Form was developed in consultation with the NSW Department of Education and Training. Please be aware that Taronga Zoo and Taronga Western Plains Zoo cannot make the assessment for you.
