Statement regarding article in The Australian, 23 May 2023
Taronga Conservation Society Australia seeks to correct information published in The Australian’s Margin Call column on 23 May 2023.
In FY 2021/22, total remuneration for the entire Taronga Board was $124,954.81, not $125,000 for each individual member. Annual renumeration (including superannuation and payroll tax) for individual board members ranges from nil to $36,388.
A number of Board members, including Catherine Harris and Penny Bingham-Hall, have chosen to donate their Taronga Board earnings back to the Taronga Foundation. Kristin Stubbins chose to join the Taronga Board in a voluntary capacity and receives no remuneration. All Board earnings donated to the Taronga Foundation or forfeited to Taronga go towards Taronga’s conservation work.
Taronga also notes Catherine Harris has not missed a meeting since her appointment. She was appointed to the Taronga Board on 6 June 2022 and her attendance was therefore noted as one meeting for the FY 2021/22.
