As the fireworks lit up the harbour to bring in the year 2000, something special was happening at Taronga.
Several hours after the new year had begun, the first arrivals for the year were found in the Red Panda exhibit – two gorgeous cubs who in time would come to be known as Mayhem and Chaos.
Chaos has since travelled around Australia as part of the breeding program for his species, while Mayhem has remained at Taronga doing his part for program siring cubs here.
Now 15 years on, he can look out from the trees in his home and watch the fireworks over the harbour every year to mark his birthday.
