Teacher hub

Taronga is here to support teachers when you visit the Zoo and in the classroom, helping students connect with wildlife and conservation through inspiring learning experiences and resources.

Work experience

Taronga's work experience program invites students in Years 10–12 to step behind the scenes and explore real careers in animal care, veterinary science and wildlife conservation, empowering future conservationists with hands‑on experience and a true glimpse into life working with and caring for wildlife.

Work experience program is available at Taronga Zoo Sydney and Taronga Western Plains Zoo Dubbo.

Indigenous community programs

We proudly acknowledge the Cammeraigal and Wiradjuri people, their Country, spirit and traditions as the customary owners of the lands upon which our Zoos stand. We recognise how vital it is to honour this connection by running a range of community and youth programs across our Zoos, creating opportunities for learning, cultural exchange and strengthened relationships. Discover a range of programs that honour the wisdom, traditions and connection to Country of First Nations communities.

Our immersive learning spaces

At Taronga, our learning spaces spark curiosity and connect students directly with wildlife. Step inside our Habitat Classrooms where students find themselves transported to a living desert, rainforest or woodland environment, where immersive learning begins the moment the door opens.
