Chile In Training
Our Green Iguana, Chile, lives at the Education Centre and gets very involved in her training sessions. Chile will be four years old in January and is very confident in climbing out on to her perch during presentations to guests. The perch is moved into the middle of the classroom so our guests and school students can see her up close and watch as she gobbles down her favourite greens like kale and sprouts! She’s a bit of a messy eater!

Green Iguanas come from the rainforests of Central and South America. They are tree-dwelling lizards which love climbing up high in the forest canopy to bask in the warm sun. Scientists speculate that the shiny cheek scales on either side of their face can be used in defence as a large "bluff" eye to ward off predators. Green Iguanas are the largest known lizard to live within the borders of the United States. Chile could grow to one and a half meters long and live for over 20 years!
