Nearly a year ago keepers from Backyard to Bush were swarmed with new arrivals. 10,000 honey bees arrived in a bid to help people understand the plight of bees worldwide but also to provide a sweet treat for our Zoo guests!
We currently have two hives with 30,000 to 40,000 bees each that can produce 40 kilos of honey each and as our swarms grow there are plans for expanding the hives.
Currently our bees are off exhibit but the buzz is that a new hive will soon be introduced to the Backyard to Bush barn early next year!
