Zoo welcomes Lazarus
In September the Zoo welcomed the arrival of Lazarus, the African Lion, to Dubbo from Auckland Zoo. Over the past 30 days Lazarus has been completing the required quarantine and will now settle in behind the scenes before beginning to explore the exhibit. Over the coming weeks Lazarus will be introduced to female, Kora. The lioness arrived at Taronga Western Plains Zoo from Mogo Zoo. Once they have settled in together they will go on display for visitors to see.Lazarus and Kora are the focus of a breeding program for lions at Taronga Western Plains Zoo with the hope that cubs will be born in the future. This will be a first for Taronga Western Plains Zoo.
