Research and Conservation Officer, Guest Experience Officer
Abbey started with Taronga in December 2021 as a Guest Experience Officer, working with Taronga’s education, community and cultural programs. In January 2024, she joined the Conservation Science team as a Research and Conservation Officer, providing administrative and technical support to Taronga’s researchers.
Abbey has a strong background in conservation science, education and animal care. She was part of the first cohort of students to complete the Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Advanced Studies degree offered through Taronga’s educational alliance with the University of Sydney, graduating in early 2023. Throughout her undergraduate studies, she worked in veterinary nursing, and continues to work in science education and zookeeping.
She loves that her roles at Taronga allow her to further her conservation career whilst sharing her passion for wildlife and science with people from all walks of life.
